What Is The Difference Between Ultherapy And Face Lift?
Ulthera
Ulthera or ultherapy is a treatment that makes the use of ultra sound energy for lifting the sagging skin and smooth out the unwanted wrinkles. The treatment is also applied on many areas of the face like chin, neck and brow. It is also used on the skin of the chest for smoothening the wrinkles out. Ulthera works by triggering the production of collagen beneath the skin surface. Collagen refers to a protein that offers support and structure to the skin. As you age, your body begins to produce less collagen that increases your skin laxity. When the production of collagen is stimulated, the skin becomes firmer and loses some of its wrinkles. Till date, ulthera is the only non surgical treatment being approved by the FDA for rejuvenating the sagging skin.
Facelift
This is a type of plastic surgery that is meant to eliminate the signs of aging in the lower part of the face that includes the jawline and chin. It also treats the sagging skin, deep creases and fatty deposits. A facelift can reverse the time and make you look younger in no time, but it can never stop the aging process or prevent new wrinkles from happening. As the facelift focuses more on the lower part of the face, many patients prefer to combine it with a brow lift or eyelid lift for rejuvenating the entire face.
Time commitment
The ulthera treatment takes less than an hour on the basis of which areas should be treated. You may only need a single treatment to get the results, but many prefer to repeat the treatment on a yearly basis to maintain their results. A facelift takes longer and last for at least 4 to 6 hours. You may also have to take up follow up appointments with your surgeon after the procedure to ensure everything goes well.
What happens after that?
As ulthera is a non surgical treatment, there is very less downtime involved. You can resume you’re your work right away after you are done with the treatment. You may have some slight redness, swelling or bruising in the treated area but that usually fades in a few days. Your doctor may suggest you some pain relievers when you experience discomfort or some cold compresses for easing the redness and bruising. When it comes to recovery with facelift, it takes a longer time. You may have to take a week off from one. Once you have the leave, there could be another week before you can resume exercising. Here too you may have some swelling, bruising or discomfort for the first few days after your surgery.
