Overview of Essential Oils

Just what is an essential oil and what are the benefits? Essential oils, commonly referred to as aromatherapy, can be extracted from natural plant sources and other materials such as spices, fruit, plants, flowers, nuts, seeds, and even animal parts. Essential oils are typically distilled from a plant’s natural extract.

It is important to note that some essential oils are in fact a single component that may be extracted from many different components, and will not be considered an “essential oil” as such. This article focuses on the three basic types of essential oils, based on their typical molecular weight: aromatic, fragrant, and flavoring.

The two primary types of essential oils that are made from various plants and animals are aromatic and fragrant. With regard to aromatherapy, it is important to remember that different types of oils have different smells. Generally, there are two main categories, essential oils with a strong “intoxicating” scent and those with a non-intoxicating aroma.

In the case of aromatherapy, aroma is a subjective experience based on the intensity of the scent, the amount of time it lingers, and how pleasant it makes one feel. “Natural” is another important factor when describing the aromas of certain aromatherapy oils. There are many other terms that are used to describe the scents of aromatherapy products, including: Cologne, Cologne aromas, and Cologne aromas.

Some essential oils are used for medicinal purposes. The most common medicinal uses are in skin care, skin irritation, and to relieve minor pain. Some of the other uses include toothpaste, toothpaste aromas, mouthwash, herbal tea, cough remedy, and some aspirin. Aromatherapy is not just a niche in the world of health and well-being.

Because different types of essential oils are extracted differently, each will have a different level of fragrance and potency, ranging from an insignificant odor to a noticeable one. Thus, the type of essential oil and custom essential oil boxes used will determine the effects to the body of the resulting oil.

The benefits of aromatherapy can range from relaxation to relieving pain to boosting one’s mood. Many individuals seek the help of aromatherapy in order to rejuvenate their daily life. For this reason, aromatherapy is also known as aromatherapy therapy.
